The Scottsboro Police Department is mourning the loss of retired Chief Ralph Dawe, who passed away on Thursday. Chief Dawe was a respected leader with a career that spanned over three decades.

Chief Dawe began his service in Scottsboro in 1989 as a patrol officer and quickly moved up the ranks due to his investigative skills. He served as Chief of Police from 2006 until his retirement in 2020.

Under his leadership, the department underwent significant modernization, improving technology and training. His efforts enhanced officer safety and service quality for the community.
