A popular River West cocktail bar was hit by robbers twice this week, putting neighbors on edge.

Around 10:40 p.m. Monday, a man in a teal mask walked into the bar and announced he had a knife, the bar's owner said. In less than a minute, he stole two purses and two phones. No one was hurt in the incident.

Then, around 8:15 p.m. Wednesday, a man dressed in all black, wearing a mask and a baseball cap was seen rummaging through an employee's purse, the bar's owner said. When the employee called the man out, he body slammed her and ran.

"Its terrifying, especially at such an odd hour," said Alex Crush, a River West resident. "It's really scary."

The bar has since closed their doors until further notice.

Employees told NBC Chicago they won't return to work until they feel safe again.
