CLEVELAND, Ohio — Two men are in custody as police continue investigating the shooting death of a Cleveland man outside the Maple Heights Giant Eagle earlier this month.
On Aug. 9, officers were called to the grocery store at 5321 Warrensville Center Road about 1:40 p.m. and found Timothy Kappenhagen suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest, according to Maple Heights police.
Police said Kappenhagen, 28, was loading groceries into his car when a man approached him in the parking lot. The two struggled, and the suspect shot Kappenhagen before fleeing in the victim’s vehicle, police said.
Kappenhagen was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center, where he died the next day.
Police recovered the stolen vehicle shortly after the shooting.
