LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Multiple developments took place Thursday in a case that has captured attention nationwide — the July double murder of an Arkansas couple at Devil’s Den State Park in Washington County.

Thursday morning, Andrew McGann — the alleged murderer — pled not guilty before Judge Joanna Thomas in a Fayetteville courtroom that was closed to the public.

It was a move legal experts called "unusual," as Arkansas statute 16-10-105 reads: “ The sittings of every court shall be public, and every person may freely attend the sittings of every court.”

It was a move that caught the attention of many and a concern that State Senator Terry Rice articulated on Thursday.
