WASHINGTON — On Thursday communities in DC gathered to show their opposition to the federal takeover of DC police.

In Mount Pleasant, the resistance group Poder del Pueblo organized a community gathering and concert.

"Tonight is about joy, it's about resistance, it's about freedom,” said Isaias Guerrero, a co-director of Poder Del Pueblo.

On Thursday, the DC Police Chief issued an executive order, increasing their cooperation with ICE .

"DC is currently facing an occupation by a force that is not necessary, a force that is creating stress, fear and mistrust,” said Guerrero.

He said they gathered in the heart of Mount Pleasant to celebrate their culture, to let it be known that they aren't going anywhere.
