Baltimore County Public Library to offer self-serve Naloxone receptacles in an effort to prevent opioid overdoses.

Elise Andrews, opioid strategy coordinator for Baltimore County, described one of the types of receptacles that houses the Narcan Nasal Spray.

“If you think of old school newspaper-style receptacles where you pull down the bin and you would take a newspaper out,” Andrews said.

Baltimore County Councilman Julian Jones said it was a very important initiative, but it doesn’t work well for people who overdose on fentanyl.

“Naloxone will work on opioids, but it is not working so well or working at all on people that are using fentanyl,” Jones said.
