Maryland Gov. Wes Moore clarified his stance on the deployment of the National Guard, stating that it would only be used in the state for emergencies and crisis situations.
President Donald Trump announced the federal takeover of the Metropolitan Police Department and the deployment of the National Guard in Washington, D.C., on Monday.
Moore spoke with WBAL’s T.J. Smith Thursday morning. The governor emphasized that the National Guard should only be used for emergencies.
“Our usage of the guard is for emergencies,” Moore said. “The use of our guard is for a crisis situation.”
