A rapidly spreading brush fire scorched 400 acres of vegetation in Acton, threatening several structures, was 6% contained Thursday evening.

The Hawk Fire was reported shortly after 3 p.m. Thursday in the 35900 block of North Trenmar Drive, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

Some structures were threatened as the flames spread through medium brush, and fire commanders issued a third alarm, summoning additional air and ground resources to the scene.

One neighborhood was placed under an evacuation order, and others were given evacuation warnings.

A shelter-in-place order was issued for the area near Shannon Valley Road and Via Famero Drive.
