HONOLULU (Island News) -- Police are searching for Marquis Johnson, 34, who allegedly threw acid at a man in Chinatown last Friday leaving him critically injured.

The Honolulu Police Department identified the man on Thursday; he is suspected to be behind the assault incident on Friday night, Aug. 8, 2025. The 30-year-old victim was getting food to bring back to the restaurant where he works when Johnson approached him, asked him a few questions then threw the acid at his face.

Afterwards, the victim returned to the restaurant where his coworkers called the police. Johnson was caught on surveillance camera running mauka on Smith Street.
