The high school football season in Colorado starts in one week.

With the 2025-26 season looming the Colorado High School Activities Association has incrementally released preseason coaches’ polls in each fall varsity sport throughout the past week. Football was the latest one to drop.

As we rapidly approach the season’s kickoff, here’s where various Western Slope teams stack up before any games have been played.

CLASS 4A

Fresh off of an undefeated regular season and a run to the state title game, Montrose lands as the No. 2 team in 4A. The only team picked ahead of the Red Hawks? The lone team to beat them last season, Broomfield. The Red Hawks gave the Eagles a run for their money in last season’s state title game, even leading 28-14 at the half, but couldn’t hang on in a 35-28 loss.
