President Donald Trump is set to discuss the war in Ukraine Friday with Russian leader Vladimir Putin in a high-stakes Alaska meeting that Trump hopes will bring an end to the bloodshed.

Whether it can lead to a deal to produce peace in Ukraine more than 3 1/2 years after Moscow’s invasion remains to be seen. It’s been six years since Putin and Trump last met in person.
