Hoover City Schools is giving its school buses a much-needed upgrade.

The district installed a new GPS system on all of its buses over the summer.

It includes a tablet with routing instructions as well as information on all of the students on the driver's route.

Transportation director Brad Hayn said this new system makes route changes easier.

"When we used to make a route change, the first thing we'd have to do is get a paper copy taken out to the driver, explain it to them, and that whole process from beginning to end would take about a week," Hayn said.
