Passengers are facing delays after two outbound easyJet planes clipped wings while on the ground.

The two EasyJet flights were due to take off a 6.15am at Manchester Airport , with one bound for Gibraltar while the other was set for Paris.

Photos and videos taken by passengers appear to show one of the planes with damage to its wing.

All flights were briefly suspended at the airport as a precaution while safety checks took place.

An EasyJet spokesperson said: “EasyJet can confirm that the wing tips of two aircraft came into contact whilst taxiing to the runway at Manchester airport this morning."

Passengers on board both flights have been returned to the terminal while replacement flights are arranged.
