President Donald Trump is meeting face-to-face with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska today to discuss efforts to end the war in Ukraine . They are then expected to hold a joint press conference.

Trump told European leaders this week that his goal is to secure a ceasefire and that he does not intend to discuss any possible divisions of territory. Days earlier, though, he said there would “be some land swapping” between Russia and Ukraine.

Trump said he believes Putin wants to make a deal to end the war in Ukraine, but also that the meeting has a 25% chance of failure.

Trump said Thursday during a press conference that he hopes the summit will lead to a second meeting that would include Zelenskyy.
