The warden who oversaw the transition from private to public operations at the George W. Hill Correctional Facility has tendered her resignation.
Laura K. Williams , who began her tenure shortly before Delaware County retook operations at the county prison in April 2022 , offered her resignation Tuesday and will remain in her position until Sept. 5. Sources say she simply had a opportunity to be closer to family in western Pennsylvania.
“I have held many great honors in my life and while the position of mother is probably one of my proudest, this position and this challenge has been a very close second,” she said as she resigned to the Jail Oversight Board, adding that the action came with “a great deal of internal conflict.”
