A section of a key Middlesbrough road is set to close in a bid to add a new crossing. Part of Ormesby Road will be shut to traffic on Sunday, August 17, to allow a traffic island to be removed and replaced with a new toucan crossing.
The route will close between the roundabout at Sandringham Road and the junction with Carmarthen Road, in both directions, between 8am and 4pm. Due to the road layout, the work can only be done safely with a full closure in place.
Access for emergency services will be maintained, and diversion routes will be clearly signposted. A Middlesbrough Council spokesman said: "This new crossing will make the road safer and more accessible for those living in the area. We've planned this work for a Sunday during the summer holidays to try and minimise disruption b
