Over the past few years, state legislatures across the country have made significant investments in the study of American civics in higher education. Florida, Arizona, Tennessee, Mississippi, Iowa and Texas have all set aside millions to establish and fund civics centers within their public flagship universities. The results have included, for example, the creation of The Hamilton Center for Classical and Civic Education within the University of Florida at Gainesville and the School of Civic and Economic Thought and Leadership on the main Tempe campus of Arizona State University.
