A bloke discovered he'd been struck down by a rare brain-eating amoeba just days after enjoying a water-skiing session.He's now been rushed to intensive care where medics are battling to treat him for primary amebic meningoencephalitis (PAM).
The lethal infection is triggered by Naegleria fowleri. The amoeba lurks in warm freshwater spots including ponds, lakes, rivers, hot springs, and badly maintained swimming pools.
