ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Two deputies of the Monroe County Sheriff's Office will be sentenced for official misconduct at the county jail.
Last year, MCSO began an investigation into allegations of misconduct, violations of official duties, and fights at the jail. The investigation led to two deputies facing charges.
Sheriff Todd Baxter said Dominic Kujawa enabled incarcerated individuals to assault each other and did not intervene in the fights. He added that an incarcerated person at the jail came forward to report this.
Another deputy, Dominic Denaro, was also charged after investigators said he alerted people incarcerated in the jail to cell searches. MCSO said this compromised the safety of staff and incarcerated individuals.
