A former Denali State Bank employee is suing the financial institution over claims of sex-based discrimination and retaliation following an alleged sexual assault in March.

The employee’s attorney, Alexis Howell of Carlson Law Group, filed the lawsuit in U.S. District Court for the District of Alaska on Aug. 4.

The employee was hired by Denali State Bank in August 2022 and relocated to Fairbanks for the position. She alleges that she was sexually assaulted by a male coworker during a gathering outside of work hours and outside the workplace on March 1. The employee did not report the incident to law enforcement and the man does not face criminal charges in connection with the alleged assault.
