A sparse table of City of Fairbanks candidates fielded questions from residents at the Interior Alaska Taxpayers Association (ITA) Fairbanks city candidate forum on Tuesday.
Only two candidates — Mayor David Pruhs and candidate Hannah Ekalook — participated in a City Council and mayoral election that included five candidates. Mayoral candidate Mindy O’Neall, the current Borough Assembly presiding officer, and incumbent Councilmembers Sue Sprinkle and Crystal Tidwell were absent.
Questions primarily focused on public safety and social services, with Rep. Will Stapp (R-Fairbanks) serving as the moderator of the forum.
