A breath-taking installation by an internationally acclaimed artist and exhibition on railway history are among the attractions visitors can see at Preston Park Museum's new multi-million pound exhibition space when it opens next month.

The Spence Building, which will connect to the Victorian Street of the museum, is named after Colonel Gilbert Ormerod Spence, who left over 3,000 objects to the people of Stockton . The space will host national touring exhibitions, showcase more of the museum’s collections and have interactive galleries so people can get up close and personal with the museum’s objects. The building, which has a new glazed visitor entrance, also houses a gift shop.

Its first exhibition will be "Tracks of Change", looking at the stories of the railways. Stockton Council
