JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. —

A man is dead in Jeffersonville and a member of his family is in custody after a 4-hour standoff.

Police said the investigation began just before 10 a.m. when they were called to a welfare check in the 1700 of Summerlin Place.

When they arrived, they found a man dead of a “very apparent” homicide inside his home.

Police said leads took them immediately to a home just minutes away in the 3000 block of Callaway Drive.

Jeffersonville PD said they found the person of interest outside, and they were armed.

He retreated into the house and was brought out, without incident, after a 4-hour standoff.

There was a very large scene at that home, with several police cars, SWAT team members and more. They did use some flash bangs to get the person to come out.
