Two people have been injured after a shooting near a mosque in southern Sweden, police have said.

Police in the city of Orebro, around 125 miles (200km) west of the capital, Stockholm, have opened an attempted murder investigation after what they said was probably a gang-related incident and are searching for those responsible.

Officers said in a statement: "Based on the current situation regarding the shooting in Orebro, the incident is believed to be linked to the criminal network environment."

Both victims were taken to hospital, a police spokesperson said, without giving details on the extent of their injuries.

Many emergency services were at the scene, and police told people to stay away.
