South Sumter Middle School students and staff members were evacuated from campus on Friday due to a reported bomb threat, according to the sheriff's office.
The middle school was initially placed on lockdown due to a report of a possible bomb threat.
Everyone was then evacuated to the Sumter County Fairgrounds, according to deputies.
The Sumter County Sheriff's Office is working to investigate and clear the scene.
Deputies said parents can pick up their children by going to the Sumter County Fairgrounds and bringing a valid photo ID for verification.
