Hillary Clinton stated that she would nominate former President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize if he successfully ends the war in Ukraine. Clinton made these remarks during an appearance on the "Raging Moderates" podcast. She emphasized that her nomination would depend on Trump achieving peace without requiring Ukraine to concede any territory to Russia.

"Honestly, if he could bring about the end to this terrible war, if he could end it without putting Ukraine in a position where it had to concede its territory to the aggressor, could really stand up to Putin — something we haven't seen, but maybe this is the opportunity," Clinton said.

Trump is scheduled to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Anchorage, Alaska, marking the first time in a decade that Putin has visited the U.S. The meeting is set for August 15, 2025. Trump expressed optimism about the summit, stating that he would know within minutes whether the meeting would be productive. He noted that a bad meeting would likely end quickly, while a good one could lead to peace.

Clinton outlined specific conditions that Trump would need to negotiate to earn her nomination. She mentioned the importance of establishing a ceasefire and ensuring that Russia withdraws from the territories it has seized. "Because my goal here is to not allow capitulation to Putin," she added.

Clinton expressed hope that Trump could stand up to Putin, stating, "I'm dreaming that, for whatever combination of reasons, including the elusive Nobel Peace Prize, President Trump may actually stand up to Putin on behalf of, not just Ukraine and its democracy and its very brave people, but frankly, on behalf of our own security and interests."

As Trump prepares for the meeting, he has indicated that he is not there to negotiate on behalf of Ukraine but to facilitate dialogue. He mentioned that he would allow Ukraine to make its own decisions regarding territorial concessions.

In the lead-up to the summit, Christian evangelist Franklin Graham called for prayers for Trump, urging Americans to pray for wisdom as he meets with Putin. Graham emphasized that peace would benefit not only Russia and Ukraine but the entire world.
