Richmond police said an investigation is underway after a man says he was chased through the Fan District by a group of people with baseball bats yelling racial slurs.

On Wednesday at around 11:30 p.m., Richmond police were called to the 900 block of West Marshall Street. The man says a white-colored pickup truck was following him prior to this, and that after around five minutes of being followed, they stopped the truck.

The man said that upon exiting the vehicle the five men shouted racial slurs and chased him with baseball bats. He was able to get away from the alleged assailants and called the police.
