Cam Newton has stepped into the conversation surrounding Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders, and his target was clear: longtime Cleveland reporter Tony Grossi.

The former NFL MVP used his "4th&1" podcast to defend Sanders days after the rookie confronted Grossi over what he saw as consistently negative coverage.

Sanders, coming off a two-touchdown preseason debut, had asked Grossi in the stadium tunnel why he never had anything positive to say about him.

Newton made it clear he felt the criticisms from Grossi had been misplaced, calling Grossi nothing but "a radio personality in the city of Cleveland" and telling him to "relax."
