CHICAGO — On Wednesday, multiple reports surfaced that Pirates catcher Endy Rodriguez had undergone season-ending elbow surgery. The Post-Gazette confirmed the news of Rodriguez’s surgery Friday.

Pirates senior director of sports medicine Todd Tomczyk said Rodriguez underwent an operation to address the ulnar nerve in his right elbow. The nerve transposition was performed by doctors Steven Shin and Neal ElAttrache out of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.

“Endy is projected to return to full competition for spring training 2026,” Tomczyk said.

The injury marks the latest of many unfortunate breaks for the 25-year-old.
