ATTLEBORO, Mass. (WPRI) -- Attleboro Mayor Cathleen DeSimone is running unopposed this year after a potential challenger was removed from voter rolls by city election officials following a hearing on his residency.

The city's Board of Election Commissioners ruled that Timothy Barone, who was the only other person to pull papers for a mayoral run, made a false statement on his voter registration.

According to the decision, Barone was accused of living in Tampa, Florida, by a resident of that state. The document goes on to explain that the city could not reach him by mail at the Attleboro address listed on his voter registration, and that, in fact, the resident of that home has an active restraining order against him.
