MONTPELIER, Vt. (WCAX) - Vermont Governor Phil Scott has declined a second request from the Trump administration to deploy Vermont National Guard soldiers.

The governor received a preliminary request this week requesting the Guard as part of the president’s crackdown on crime in Washington, D.C.

It comes as Washington D.C. officials on Friday sued to block the president’s unprecedented takeover.

A group of retired military brass sent the governor a letter thanking him for keeping the National Guard focused on defense and disasters.
