SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) - Springfield residents will have one less place to go for caramel apples and the holiday season.

Del's Popcorn Shop said on Facebook Aug. 15 that it will permanently close its location in the city.

The shop added that the Springfield owner will begin a "well-deserved" retirement.

"It has been an absolute privilege to serve this community. Sharing smiles, stories, and of course popcorn since the day we opened our doors. We’re deeply grateful for your loyalty and the countless memories we’ve made together," the store said in the post.

While Del's is no longer in Springfield, popcorn lovers can still check out locations in Mt. Zion and Decatur.
