The Indiana Court of Appeals has determined a Hammond man convicted of murder and armed robbery last year after ambushing an alleged drug dealer while his car was stopped in a Hammond alley received a fair trial.

Davon N. Jones, 21, was sentenced to 55 years in prison in connection with the April 9, 2022, shooting death of 20-year-old Amarion Holmes behind a home in the 800 block of Drackert Street, according to court records.

Records show Jones lured Holmes to the alley and conspired with an accomplice to rob Holmes under the guise of purchasing marijuana from him.
