Multnomah County reported a second suspected heat death Friday after a heatwave earlier this week scalded Portland streets and brought temperatures near 100 degrees.
The 57-year-old woman, whom the county did not identify, was found dead in the 97214 zip code, which covers a portion of inner Southeast Portland. The county did not say when the woman died.
The death comes after officials reported Thursday that a 59-year-old man was found dead Wednesday near Southeast Portland and Gresham.
The county released no other details about the individuals or the conditions in which they were found.
The county said medical examiners are investigating the deaths, but confirming the cause could take weeks or even months. It’s possible that other people have died this year due to heat-related ill
