WILLIAMSBURG — REFUGE, A 500-CAPACITY nightclub inside a nearly 200-year-old industrial complex, is set to debut next month with an all-analogue audiophile setup anchored by “REX,” a 10-foot-tall sound system designed by audio engineer Craig “Shorty” Bernabeu. The booth boasts a custom console, rotary mixers and filters aimed at delivering “full, relaxed” sound with serious impact.
Additional acoustic engineering comes from legend Al Fierstein of Acoustilog. Veteran producer John Dimatteo leads the project, with creative direction from Gregory Horns, according to Music is 4 Lovers .
Fridays at the club will feature a residency by performer Ladyfag, while Sundays will be dedicated to classic house sessions. Further artists are yet to be announced.
