TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Tampa police are cracking down on dangerous packs of bike riders who are taking over streets in South Tampa.

On Wednesday night, police used their helicopter and a number of ground units to put the brakes on a pack of more than 200 riders.

They say the pack was swarming cars, going the wrong way down streets and violating several safety laws.

Many people in Tampa have been complaining about these dangerous actions for some time.

"I've seen people talking on the Island, on Nextdoor about them hitting cars, riding up on cars, just really scaring people," said Nancy Fosnaught.

Her friend, Michelle James, says she's experienced this when driving.
