The University of Michigan is planning to appeal the NCAA’s ruling Friday that its football program broke rules regarding advance scouting.

In a late-afternoon statement issued by the school, Michigan said it found “fundamental errors” in several interpretations of the NCAA bylaws, claiming conclusions were made “directly contrary to the evidence — or lack of evidence — in the record.”

Michigan did not specify which bylaws it found issues with.

“We will appeal this decision to ensure a fair result, and we will consider all other options,” the school said in the statement.
