While the sign-stealing saga of 2023 played out one last time on Friday, former Michigan assistant coach Chris Partridge celebrated.

Partridge, fired by Michigan in November 2023 for what school officials characterized as interfering in an active NCAA investigation, was vindicated of any penalties in the 58-page ruling issued Friday on the advance scouting case involving the Wolverines.

“Although questions remain about Partridge’s knowledge of the impermissible scouting scheme, there is insufficient information to reasonably conclude that Partridge attempted to influence a student-athlete to lie about it to the enforcement staff,” the NCAA’s Committee on Infractions wrote.
