After a 33-year-old man was charged with exposing himself to minors at Oxford Ridge Playground on Croton Road, Melbourne police are praising the actions of the victims who were able to alert authorities by themselves and potentially keep other children safe.

Commander Shawn Eising praised the juveniles who called police right away when they noticed something wrong, leading to the Aug. 13 arrest of

Eising said the actions of the two children, who immediately called authorities, can serve as a lesson for everyone on how to stay safe.

"You should feel comfortable taking your children places; you should pay attention to your surroundings and what's going on," he said. "These kids handled the situation better than a lot of adults."
