Nether Providence Police Chief David Splain said Friday that three teenagers accused of vandalizing a newly renovated turf field at Gouley Park on Thursday night have been identified thanks to the power of social media.
“Social media worked for us,” Splain said in a post on Crimewatch. “This demonstrates the vital role of community involvement.”
Splain did not provide additional details Friday, but said police had received numerous calls and tips within hours of reporting that they were seeking information about three males caught on video damaging the field.
According to the original post, video surveillance showed the trio entering Gouley Park on Plush Mill Road at about 9:20 p.m. Thursday. Two were riding One Wheel electric skateboards with headlights, and one was on foot.
