The chief of the Pembroke Park Police Department accused Broward Sheriff Gregory Tony on Friday of denigrating his officers to score political points in his ongoing feud with the city manager of Deerfield Beach.
Pembroke Park, a southeast Broward town of roughly 6,500 residents, was served by the Broward Sheriff’s Office until 2022, when officials opted to sever ties with the largest law enforcement agency in the county. At a news conference Wednesday , Tony pointed to Pembroke Park as an example of what can happen when a municipality cuts its ties with BSO.
