The new Windy Rock fire has burned roughly 500 acres in Powell County.
The fire is burning in the Bureau of Land Management's Hoodoo Mountain Wilderness Study Area north of Gold Creek and Phosphate in Powell County.
The fire was reported at approximately 5 p.m. on Thursday. The cause of the fire is still undetermined.
The Powell County Sheriff's Office posted on Facebook Thursday that no structures are currently threatened and there are no plans for evacuations at this time.
State firefighting resources are actively engaged on scene with multiple air and ground resources.
Smoke is visible from U.S. Interstate 90, Highway141, Deer Lodge and Drummond.
