The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for Coconino County, including Sedona, starting at 5:27 p.m. Aug. 15. The warning expires at 8:30 p.m. Aug. 15.

Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain upstream of Oak Creek near Munds Park. Between 0.75 and 1.75 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.5 inches are possible in the warned area.

Life-threatening flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in creeks and streams, normally dry washes, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.

Some locations that will experience flash flooding include: Sedona, Schnebly Hill Overlook, Munds Park, Munds Mountain Wilderness, Indian Gardens, Uptown Sedona and Red Rock-Secret Mountain Wilderness.
