DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) -- A local township is preparing for the winter weather with new brining equipment.

Miami Township obtained a H2Ohio River Initiative Chloride Reduction Grant totaling $25,529. A Liquid Application System was purchased with the funds to assist with road maintenance during wintry conditions.

"The new LAS allows for precise application of a salt brine solution before and during winter storms," said the township. "It proactively prevents ice from bonding to road surfaces, reducing the need for granular salt and improving road safety."
