DURANGO, Colo. (KRQE) – Officials said a fire that started early Friday afternoon is forcing an evacuation for residents in southern Colorado. Residents north and east of Hilltop Drive, in the upper elevations of the Forest Lakes subdivision, north of Bayfield, are being told to evacuate. The rest of the Forest Lakes subdivision, as well as Beaver Meadows and residents of Bear Creek Canyon Road, are on pre-evacuation notice.

The Blue Ridge Fire has burned three to five acres and, as of 3:30 p.m., is beginning to move northeast away from homes.

Evacuees are asked to go to Bayfield High School to register and receive credentials.
