FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - The Allen County Election Board held the first of two public meetings proposing the use of vote centers.

The vote centers would replace individuals’ assigned, precinct-based polling locations for the 2026 election cycle.

According to the Indiana Secretary of State website , the option for a county to use vote centers was introduced in 2011 with the passing of Senate Enrolled Act 32 and House Enrolled Act 1242.

Vote centers were introduced as a way for counties to save money while giving voters the flexibility to choose where they cast their vote on Election Day.
