Liverpool beat Bournemouth 4-2 in a Premier League opener at Anfield that was sadly marred by a racism incident.

The Reds claimed a 2-0 lead through goals from £79million summer signing Hugo Ekitike and Cody Gakpo .

But they saw that disappear after Antoine Semenyo, who reported racial abuse from the crowd during the game, scored twice.

Bournemouth looked to be taking home a draw in their first outing - at least until Federico Chiesa netted a late winner.

Mohamed Salah then got in on the act, of course, to seal victory and three points on an emotional night in honour of Diogo Jota .

Post-match, Arne Slot , Andoni Iraola and Adam Smith all strongly condemned the actions towards Semenyo, and Liverpool have now confirmed a police investigation is ongoing.
