WASHINGTON (DC News Now) -- A D.C. man was sentenced to 13 years in prison Friday for a July 2024 shooting that stemmed from a bar fight, according to the United States Attorney's Office (USAO) for the District of Columbia.
Duarte Santos, 25, pleaded guilty in April to charges of aggravated assault while armed, possession of a firearm during violence, assault with a dangerous weapon and carrying a pistol without a license outside of home/business. He is additionally ordered to five years of supervised release after his sentence.
According to court documents, at 11:30 p.m. on July 5, 2024, security footage showed Santos sitting inside a bar located at 3521 14th St. NW. before going up the stairs and getting into an argument with two people.
