CLEVELAND, Ohio - University Circle police are taking steps to address the challenges that law enforcement careers pose to officers’ marriages.
The department will host a marriage seminar from 6 to 8 p.m. Aug. 21 at the University Circle Inc. Community Room at 10831 Magnolia Drive. The seminar is open to active and retired police officers and their spouses.
Reports indicate that up to 70% of police marriages end in divorce, according to University Circle Police Chief Thomas Wetzel. The percentage highlights the toll that police work can take on officers’ personal lives.
“That is simply unacceptable and a clarion call for us to take action to save police marriages which can also help keep families stable and together,” Wetzel said.
