Robert F Kennedy Jr has ruled himself out of a 2028 presidential run, dismissing growing speculation he was plotting a campaign for the White House.

It comes after several reports had suggested the health and human service secretary and his team were beginning to put the gears in motion for a general election campaign.

On Friday Mr Kennedy, 71, who ran against Donald Trump in 2024 before joining his campaign, said such claims were circulated in an effort to “drive a wedge” between himself and the president.

“The swamp is in full panic mode. DC lobby shops are labouring fiercely to drive a wedge between President Trump and me, hoping to thwart our team from dismantling the status quo and advancing… the Make America Healthy Again agenda,” Mr Kennedy wrote on X.
